Summer lessons will be in Seattle on Tuesdays and Saturdays and in Kirkland on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please see the mymusicstaff page for details and sign-ups.
I will be teaching Reeds 101 (noon-2) and Deciphering Chord Symbols (3-5) on Friday July 12 and Friday August 23 at Metropolitan Music in Kirkland.
Reeds 101 is a hands-on 2 hour class that covers basic reed handling and how to adjust reeds with sandpaper or tools. Required equipment: instrument, reeds, 350 grit sandpaper or reed tool.
Deciphering Chord Symbols is a performance focused 2 hour class for beginning improvisers. It covers what notes are in the Chord based on the symbol and how to find a key with the chords. Required equipment: instrument, pencil, staff paper.
2018 looks to be a year of variety in performing. Whether it’s saxophone with SWOJO, bass clarinet and clarinet with a variety of orchestras, chamber music, or jams, this concert season looks varied and fun! More to come soon.
—Please arrive no later than 1:45 so that we will have time to get set up and organized.
—This is a potluck event, so please bring small finger food to share! The food and drinks (I will provide beverages) will be in the lobby between performing groups only—no food in the sanctuary please.
—Dress is nice—no tie needed, but please wear a nice shirt and slacks.

The Winter Recital will be on January 24 at 3:30 pm at the Shoreline Free Methodist church 510 NE 175th St, Shoreline, WA 98155. Please plan to arrive no later than 3:15 and expect to stay until 5:30–recitals do not run more than 2 hours. There will be a piano available and a table outside of the hall for goodies at intermission(s). If you can not make the recital, we will try to arrange a family performance around that date.
Solo and Ensemble is coming soon! Please make sure to have your application and pianist taken care of now. Good luck everyone!
If you have an interest in joining a youth symphony, please let me know! I’d be happy to help you prepare and choose appropriate audition material.
I will be performing a lot in the next few months including orchestral, opera, and chamber music performances. Hope you can hear some!
